POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the guidance of the Director of Engineering, the Project Engineer is responsible for technical leadership, coordination, process governance and design, client relationships and project performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Leadership & Design Oversight
  • Provide senior technical leadership for all civil and AGC design activities, ensuring engineering outputs meet safety, operational, commercial, regulatory, and maintenance requirements prior to submission.
  • Complete or oversee complex and specialized design tasks, delivering expert engineering judgment for challenging or client‑specific requirements.
  • Mentor, coach, and guide Civil Technologists and project staff in design methodologies, calculations, standards, engineering principles, and technical decision‑making.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver all technical documentation—including drawings, stamped calculations, design reports, specifications, and full project packages—ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance.
  • Uphold professional engineering standards, ensuring sealed documents follow all applicable regulatory, ethical, and code-of-practice requirements – including engineer sealing in Ontario.
Team Coordination & Development
  • Coordinate and support the civil engineering team, applying strong coaching, communication, and organizational practices.
  • Lead the onboarding and skill development of new engineering staff, ensuring alignment with AGC processes, engineering tools, and design standards.
  • Promote a high‑performance engineering culture based on knowledge sharing, open communication, discipline, and consistent application of standards.
  • Facilitate productive collaboration between engineering, operations, sales, quality, procurement, and field personnel for smooth project execution.
Process Improvement, Governance & Documentation
  • Work with the Director of Engineering to develop, refine, and maintain engineering protocols, standard practices, project governance tools, and technical procedures.
  • Lead document control activities for the AGC division, ensuring traceable and compliant management of emails, client files, drawings, calculations, reports, and other technical records.
  • Track and analyze KPI performance—particularly quotation accuracy, cycle times, documentation compliance, and design quality trends—and recommend improvement actions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to new product development, formulation changes, updated specifications, production trials, and engineering best practices.
  • Promote process reliability by identifying recurring issues and implementing preventive actions (CAPA) that improve quality and reduce engineering risk.

Project Management & Execution
  • Manage AGC projects from initiation through completion, ensuring alignment with scope, specifications, timelines, quality expectations, safety requirements, and budget constraints.
  • Lead key project phases, including tender specification review, drafting, technical contract evaluations, material planning, contractor scheduling, and installation coordination.
  • Analyze contract documents to detect discrepancies, omissions, or risks, ensuring engineering and commercial impacts are addressed proactively.
  • Respond promptly to client, contractor, and internal team inquiries, delivering authoritative engineering and project guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review installation drawings, reports, and technical deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure all final engineering packages—as‑builts, QA documentation, manuals, stamped drawings—are completed, verified, and approved prior to fabrication, shipment, or installation.
  • Enforce compliance with safety standards, regulatory codes, engineering procedures, and internal quality requirements.
  • Support project planning and control activities including scope development, cost estimating, scheduling, progress monitoring, and forecasting.
Client, Vendor & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams, acting as a trusted technical liaison throughout project delivery.
  • Support Sales by reviewing technical calculations, design details, tender documents, and bid proposals to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of AGC product availability, applications, technical benefits, and pricing structures to support both engineering and commercial discussions.
  • Coordinate closely with operations, quality, procurement, and field contractors to ensure project milestones are met on time and according to specification.
  • Participate in site visits, field reviews, engineering inspections, and installation monitoring as required by the Director of Engineering.
  • Lead technical communication with all stakeholders, conduct project meetings, prepare minutes, and maintain detailed project documentation.
Performance, Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all engineering work conforms to Albarrie standards, client requirements, governing regulatory codes, and professional engineering obligations.
  • Drive quality assurance across the project lifecycle by enforcing technical compliance, design integrity, documentation completeness, and engineering sign‑off protocols.
  • Conduct site reviews to verify quality, monitor progress, and ensure safety compliance; identify and address issues early through effective engineering oversight.
  • Support post‑project reviews, documenting lessons learned and recommending improvements to processes, engineering methods, or quality controls.
  • Perform resource management activities, including task assignment, oversight of technical workloads, and performance evaluation of third‑party vendors and subcontractors.
  • Apply safety best practices (HAZID, HAZOP, risk assessments) across design and site activities to support hazard reduction and safe execution.
